3 Things
October 29, 2010
1. Halloween decorations make me extremely happy, even when the weather is dreary. They make my walk to work so much more fun.
Look at the mummy staring out the window. Ah!
2. I saw 2 seriously cool carved pumpkins today. Or should I say etched?
They were displayed at the Union Square famer’s market this morning.
Now, that’s art! How incredible are the details?
3. Also found at the farmer’s market, I never knew how brussel sprouts grow. Apparently, they grow clustered together on a giant stem that almost looks like a branch.
How crazy, right? It’s so pretty looking it could almost be a decoration. And not a bad price either for that whole thing.

I forgot my lunch for the very first time today.
I had a pasta dish prepared but it’s currently sitting in my unreachable fridge.
I made a quick trip to the D’agostino’s next to my office. I haven’t bought lunch in forever, and I had a lot of fun browsing at all the prepared meals to pick out what I want to eat.
I finally decided on springs rolls, because they looked so good and colorful. The lady working behind the counter had just made it and put it out so I knew they would be fresh.
With some sweet and sour sauce on the side. I haven’t had spring rolls in forever and these were chock full of healthy yummy ingredients: lettuce, shrimp, crab meat, avocado, cucumber, and carrots.
Delish. Lunch was a success.
Please ignore that fact that I desperatly need to redo my nails.
Weeee Friday! I’m so excited for Halloween. I actually have no idea what I’m going to be yet. I think it’s going to be have to be one of those costumes thrown together hastily at the last minute. It’s always a fun holiday in NYC though. What are you dressing up as? Give me some easy ideas please!

At first I thought YOU had carved (etched) those pumpkins and I was insanely jealous of your creativity.
I’m either going to be a princess or a fairy. I have chosen my costume solely based on the fact that being Britney Spears required a lot of costume-making effort…and I really just want to wear a pretty dress.
I also have a “No Ho on Halloween” rule which limits my options.

And yes, I realized that when I said I was going to be Britney Spears (circa I’m a Slave 4 U) that was kind of going agains the whole “no ho” thing….whatever.

Haha I’m also trying not to bring out my ho side on Halloween. Those days are behind me. You can go as Britney during her crazy days.. but that would require you to shave your head which can be a bit much. Hope you have fun!

Those pumpkins are amazing! Good heavens somehow has a lot of free time. I know what you mean about nails-I get so lazy and don’t redo them but once a week. ha.

Wow. Those pumpkins are insane! I’m in awe of people that can do that kind of pumpkin carving. Mine always came out looking like I carved them drunk (which I wasn’t at 12 years old…ha!). I have since given up and now just jealously look at others masterpieces.

The pumpkin art is incredible! I have a friend who does insane free-hand pumpkin carving…artwork on gourd
Your lunch looks soooo delicious–it’s given me inspiration to experiment with making spring rolls at home again!

Those pumpkins are crazy cool!!

I have noticed SO many more decorations in NYC this Halloween season. I can’t believe that I missed those carved pumpkins at the farmer’s market… maybe they will be there on Saturday too.

The pumpkins are so great. My middle boy would spend hours using patterns and creating his pumpkin every year. The other kids take after me and make a crooked smile and move on.

I love how brussel sprouts grow, they are so cool! I remember being so confused when I first saw them like that too – I feel ya!

Love this time of year – the Halloween decorations, the pumpkin, the fall/winter veggies like brussel sprouts. So much fun.
Looks like forgetting your lunch didn’t turn out so bad. The spring roll looks delicious. Everything tastes better with avocado in my opinion.

Woah, I had no idea how brussel sprouts grew! Weird!
Good luck finding a costume! I’m not dressing up, so I’m no help.
However, my son is being Criss Angel. You could do that? haha Joking! But it would be funny right?

HAHA Criss Angel? That would be so wrong, yet so adorable.
